Our client is looking for Janitor/Handyman QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE School leaving certificate (or equivalent) ATTRIBUTES Sound knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanical principles and general cleaning techniques Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow applicable safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate authority Ability to resolve problems efficiently Focused and self-motivated, with attention to detail Self-reliant and responsible Good physical ability Sound communication skills (orally – in person or by telephone, and in written form) Strong customer service orientation ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prioritize and undertake basic improvement/maintenance works around the designated facility, including painting and decorating, joinery and plumbing Clean light fittings and test lighting systems in accordance with required schedule, replacing minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses, starters and diffusers as required, in accordance with safe working practices Undertake basic cleaning and adjustment of air conditioning equipment Monitor equipment and facilities, maintaining appropriate records and readings as required.  Report problems requiring major repairs Observe precautions to protect employee and company property.  Monitor the physical and functional state of general equipment and furniture.  Report faults, damage, theft or found items Clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. and clean up spillages as required Ensure that gullies, drains and drainage systems are free from debris and that all access routes and grass/lawns are appropriately maintained and litter free Empty waste receptacles and dispose of waste in a safe, hygienic manner as required. Perform related duties as required
